Just what is Amy standing in front of? Read on to find out!
Hello,
Here is the latest selection of some photos that I took over the weekend. My sister, Amy (click on the emu above for her blog) got to come visit with me for a couple days, one of which was spent downtown, trying to see the sights.
The main sight we wanted to see was the Sears Tower Skydeck. Pretty cool in clear weather, alas it was raining, then snowing and the top of the building was in cloud cover all day. Instead we went to the Federal Reserve of Chicagos visitor center (dry and free!). We saw a lot of old currency and at least 3 million in current bills. Amy also got her very own bag of shredded U.S. currency.

Amy standing next to a cube of a million $1 dollar bills! And then by a briefcase with a million dollars in $100.00 bills. What a difference denominations make eh?
From the Fed it was off to Millenium Park and then Marshall Fields/Macy's. We had to go see the new park and the gigantic metallic bean-shaped sculpture it contains. The bean is actually called "cloud gate".
Here is Cloud Gate from afar....and close up! They are still working on the underbelly of the bean and Amy mentioned that the workmen looked like an Oompa loompa.

This is the Millenium Park bandshell. A summer concert here looks like a lot of fun.

On the opposite side of the bean statue is an ice skating rink. This rink sits right on Michigan Ave.

All in all, a nice morning. Rainy, but nice. I think downtown Chicago is much nicer in the sunshine. Perhaps I will take more downtown photos when the weather gets warmer.
More later,
-Paul

Is it just me, or does that building look like one of the ninja turtles got really big and fell in a vat of chrome?
I agree with Queen of The Squirrels comment.
And, a side note, as long as you are up to your elbows in Pixy dust,
change my blog logo from US/Deutschland to the Lone Star of Texas?
I am assiduously avoiding work here. Don't feel like unpacking boxes yet.. yuk...
Love, Aunt Patsy
