The State of the Union address is Tuesday, January 31st, 2006...9 PM EST. Too bad I'll be at work. :(
This version annual address from GWB should be a very interesting address. Will he address Iraq? Domestic spying program? Health care costs seems to be what the press thinks he'll talk about. But to what degree will he actually confront his critics? Better yet, how will he defend his position, while still trying to boost his approval ratings? Should be an interesting verbal tap dance.
What I am most interested in is how the Bush administration will handle the election results in Palestine. Hamas was certainly the last group the White House wanted to win the election; yet they did. Bush wanted to spread democracy, and Hamas listened. Now what? Ignore Hamas? Deal with them, despite their intent to destroy Israel and try to talk them out of it? Bush's foreign policy has not always been the best. The State of the Union would be a good way to present the way he'll approach the situation. I hope he talks about this topic more than any other.
More commentary will follow the address....
