Lots of Pulp

Hey all,

Another long night at the mart. Thank you Jake for reminding me about the work/blog/fired thing. I will have to be careful....perhaps the deleting of my last post is in order.

As to the Pledge of Allegiance, I have not given that much thought. However, my first impressions are that the Pledge should be to the nation (or its ideals?), rather than the flag itself. I guess to be logically consistent with my views that the flag is simply a piece of cloth, I need to hold the view that the Pledge is a tad misdirected. However, with things this touchy, good luck getting Congress to change it.....Well, maybe not, at least Hatch and the 57 co-sponsors of the bill in the Senate seem pretty quick to change the status of the flag...This bothers me in many ways. The worst of which is wondering, 'Don't they have better things to be doing?" Seriously, is there some massive flag burning movement that is out to destroy the country via flag burning? Hatch needs to wake up and smell the proverbial coffee (He wouldn't dare sniff the real stuff). The proverbial coffee being 2 military conflicts, much needed health care reform, much needed education reform, upgrades to many parts of the country's infrastructure, etc....

On a political note, Bush is visiting SLC Monday (1248 days remain, see link to the clock-->). Rocky has called publicly for major pro-peace protests. This has caused, a fairly good sized firestorm in SLC. I guess Bush will be speaking to the Veterans of Foreign Wars National Convention. The critics quoted by the SL Trib were angry because for some reason they associate protesting the President with protesting service men and women. Apparently its unpatriotic to protest the President too.

I will be attempting to make some changes to the blog here in the near future when I have time. Some have alreay noticed the dramatic change from black to green backgrounds.

Nuff for now.

I take a different view of Rocky for sure. Having been near to his jurisdiction for a few years while running a non-profit on Main Street, I can attest to his incompetence & politicking. He has contributed to Main Street's desolation.

But he also appears to be a buffoon at the lecturn, his speeches amounting to poorly recited rhetoric delivered with painfully dull oratory flare.

But anyway, he's free to show up at any pot-smoking party in any park to pander to whomever he wants.
